Product Descriptions

The Maltese Microfiber Fire Apparatus Drying Towel is the product that started it all. Engineered in the fire service and developed through real-world firefighter testing, it was created to help protect the apparatus that protect our communities. While the men and women who ride them will always be a department's greatest investment, today's fire apparatus represent millions of dollars in equipment that deserve the same level of care and attention.

Built from premium 680 GSM coral fleece microfiber, this oversized 24" × 36" drying towel delivers exceptional absorbency, superior glide, and scratch-free performance. Whether removing rinse water after a wash or applying spray waxes, waterless wash products, quick detailers, ceramic and graphene spray coatings, it safely lifts water and residue away from the surface while helping preserve today's advanced automotive finishes.

Originally engineered for daily fire apparatus maintenance, the Fire Apparatus Drying Towel is equally at home caring for personal vehicles, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, RVs, boats, trailers, and specialty equipment. If it has a finish worth protecting, this is the towel built for the job.

Unlike ordinary microfiber towels, the Maltese Fire Apparatus Drying Towel was engineered to reduce drag, improve drying efficiency, and minimize the risk of fine swirl marks and surface scratching. Its premium coral fleece construction glides effortlessly across paint, ceramic coatings, chrome, polished aluminum, stainless steel, glass, wraps, and other delicate surfaces.

Every detail—from the premium materials and oversized design to the enclosed binding and professional-grade construction—was chosen to simplify cleaning, reduce towel usage, and deliver professional results whether you're in the firehouse, the driveway, or the detailing bay.

Built on Tradition. Designed to Perform.

Engineered in the fire service. Trusted everywhere.

Recommended Use

Designed primarily for drying painted fire apparatus surfaces after washing. Keeping this towel dedicated to apparatus drying helps protect your department's finish, prevents cross-contamination, and maximizes towel performance and longevity.

Its premium microfiber construction also makes it an outstanding choice for drying personal vehicles, motorcycles, boats, RVs, trailers, and other painted or finished surfaces where a safe, streak-free, scratch-free finish is essential.

I actually like that last sentence because it doesn't take away from your firefighter identity. It says, "This was built for the fire service first," but it also opens the door to every other market naturally. A firefighter reading it thinks, "If it's good enough for our $1 million engine, it's definitely good enough for my truck."

Care & Maintenance

Protect your investment and maintain the absorbency, softness, and performance of your Maltese Microfiber Fire Apparatus Drying Towel by following these care guidelines.

Washing
Machine wash in cold water.
Wash separately or with like-colored microfiber towels.
Use a mild liquid detergent.
Do not use fabric softener. Fabric softeners can coat microfiber fibers and reduce absorbency and drying performance.
Do not use bleach.
Do not wash with cotton towels or other lint-producing materials.

Drying
Tumble dry on LOW HEAT only.
DO NOT USE HIGH HEAT.
Do not use dryer sheets or fabric softeners.
Remove towels from the dryer when dry and avoid unnecessary extended drying.
Proper care helps protect the microfiber fibers and maintain the towel's absorbency, glide, softness, and drying performance over repeated use.

IMPORTANT INITIAL CARE

TUMBLE DRY LOW — DO NOT USE HIGH HEAT.
During the initial wash and dry cycles, some excess dye may be released from the deep red Apparatus Drying Towel. High dryer temperatures can contribute to residual dye transferring to the dryer drum. Always dry on low heat and wash separately during the initial wash cycles.
If dye transfer occurs, see our Dryer Drum Dye Transfer & Cleaning Guide for complete cleaning instructions.

Before First Use

Important: Wash your towel separately before first use. Some color transfer during the first 3–5 wash cycles is normal and expected. Washing separately during this break-in period helps prevent color transfer to other fabrics.

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash in warm water only.
  • Wash microfiber products together whenever possible.
  • Avoid washing with lint-producing fabrics such as cotton towels.

Do Not Use

  • Do not use bleach.
  • Do not use fabric softeners.

Both can damage the microfiber fibers, reduce absorbency, and decrease cleaning performance.

Drying Instructions

  • Tumble dry on low heat only.
  • Avoid high heat, which can damage microfiber fibers.
  • Air drying is also acceptable.

Performance & Longevity

  • If a towel snags, carefully trim the loose fiber—do not pull it.
  • Use each towel only for its intended application to prevent cross-contamination and maximize its service life.

Firehouse Care Recommendations

  • Wash lightly soiled towels separately from heavily soiled towels whenever possible.
  • Pre-soak heavily soiled towels before washing for best results.
  • Standard residential and commercial washing machines and dryers are recommended.
