Fleet Outfitting Guide
Outfit Your Fleet with Confidence
Every fire department operates differently, but after extensive field testing with active firefighters, we've developed recommendations to help departments equip each apparatus with the right number of towels.
Our recommendations are designed to support normal firehouse operations—not just a single wash.
Whether your apparatus is washed after every response, once each day, or several times throughout a work rotation, having multiple towels available helps crews maintain a clean, streak-free finish while extending the life of each towel.
Recommended Towel Quantities
| Apparatus | Recommended Quantity |
|---|---|
| 🚒 Engine Company | 4 Towels |
| 🚒 Truck Company | 5 Towels |
| 🚒 Heavy Rescue | 5 Towels |
| 🚑 Medic / Ambulance | 4 Towels |
| 🚓 Battalion Chief Vehicle | 2 Towels |
| 🚐 Specialty Vehicles (HazMat, Brush, Utility, Air Unit, Command Trailer, etc.) | 2 Towels |
| 🚙 Department SUVs & Staff Vehicles | 2 Towels |
Why We Recommend Multiple Towels
Fire apparatus often require more than one wash during a shift or work rotation due to emergency responses, weather, road grime, training exercises, or routine maintenance.
Having multiple towels available allows crews to:
- Rotate to a clean, dry towel during washing.
- Maintain a streak-free finish.
- Reduce cross-contamination.
- Extend the life of each towel.
- Keep a clean towel ready whenever an apparatus needs attention.
Our Philosophy
Rather than sharing a single towel between multiple vehicles, we recommend assigning towels to individual apparatus whenever possible.
Dedicated towels help establish consistency throughout the station, support a cleaner workflow, and ensure every crew has the equipment they need to properly care for their apparatus.
As your department grows and your microfiber system expands, dedicated towels also make it easier to organize equipment and maintain a consistent standard of care throughout the firehouse.
